Troop 795 Training

Crew 795 Asst. Adviser

I know there are a lot of new parents joining our great Troop and I wanted to introduce my self and tell everyone about the up and coming training.

My name is Shawn Marie Wolcott and  I’m the troop trainer. My job is to try to keep everyone up to date on all training opportunities

If you are interested in any positions with the troop please go to http://olc.scouting.org/ to get started on your training.

• The first training to take is Boy Scout Fast Start Training its an online training that takes about 20 minutes. It teaches you the basics of the set up of a Boy Scout troop and how it operates.

• The next Training is Youth Protection Training this training is an online or in person training. The training after that depends on the position you will be holding in the troop. 

• If you are only going to be a Merit Badge councilor your training is now done. ( Typically  Merit Badge Councilors do not wear a uniform unless they hold another position in the troop)

• For Asst. Scoutmasters and Committee members you will need to take New Leader Essentials  and then the following:

•  Asst. Scoutmasters will need to take Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training there are 4 parts to that training. You will need all 4 parts to be considered trained. They include the 3 parts of Troop operation which can be taken as part of three 3 hours sessions or a Full day training. The 4^th part is introduction to outdoor leader training. The is an all weekend event.

• Committee members will need to take a 3 hour Troop Committee Challenge course.

After you have completed all parts of your Training you are now allowed to wear a Full Uniform with Troop 795 and receive your Trained leader Patch.

      Thursday April 3, 2008 – RSBC

o       Scoutmaster Fundamentals (SALT) #1 6:15 – 9:30

      Thursday April 17, 2008 – RSBC

o       Scoutmaster Fundamentals (SALT) #2 6:30 – 9:30

o       New Leader Essentials 6:30 – 8:00

o       Youth Protection 8:15 – 9:30

      Thursday April 24, 2008 – RSBC

o       Scoutmaster Fundamentals (SALT) #3 6:30 – 9:30

      Friday May 16, 2008 through Sunday May 18, 2008

•       Outdoor Leader Training (OLT)

After you have completed all training please let me know so I can document your training and introduce you to the troop
